Celebrate the return of warm weather with a sampling of special brews during the 9th Square beer crawl.*

It’s the eve of National Home Brew Day and a prelude to National Craft Beer week at On9 in New Haven’s Historic 9th Square.

Crawl through the neighborhood and sample a variety of craft beers and home brews. Attendees check in at The Grove and pick up a tasting glass then sampling several home brewers.

In the 9th Square craft beers will be featured at Orange Street businesses – Bentara,  Neville’s Fashion Design Studio, Reynolds Fine Art and Yolande’s Bistro & Creperie . Chapel Street businesses – Elm City Market, English Building Market, Breathing Room. Adae Fine Art Academy, and Project Storefronts. Luck & Levity on Court Street will also host home brewers.

Participants will purchase a ticket for $10 and receive a tasting mug. Brewers will offer 2 oz. samples. We plan to offer 2 dozen different beers.

coffee flight

Flights of Coffee will be featured at green well Organic Tea and Coffee, 44 Crown Street, during #BrewOn9.

This “brew” alternative is for the non-beer drinkers! The coffee flight is a sampling of light roast, dark roast and espresso shot. It’s priced at $3.

Along with the sipping, enjoy live music, featuring innovative fingerstyle guitarist Glen Roth from 6PM-8PM.



VirginVintanthromodern Vintage @ English Building Market, 839 Chapel Street, continues is Friday Film Series: Vintage Fashion & Film during Brew On9, May 3rd at 7PM. Tickets are $8. Drinks and snacks will be available.

Vignettes of vintage clothing and accessories inspired by the movies will be on display and available for purchase.






To celebrate #BrewOn9, English Building Market, 839 Chapel St. will have a sale on all glassware and bar related stuff (25% off).

Reynolds Fine Art is pleased to present new work by gallery owner and namesake, Robert Reynolds.Stemming from numerous visits to the Netherlands, Reynolds new body of oil paintings and monoprints boasts vivid Dutch landscapes as its subject.

freshtestsizeFresh Yoga, 49 Orange Street, presents Ed Mikelis teaching a free yoga class to help you generate a thirst for the evening! Flow through a series of poses designed to condition the whole body. Beginning with sun salutations, students move from one posture to another in a continual series and link movements to breath with the aim of creating freedom in the body through awareness, heat and finding your edge.

Capacity limit of 40 students – please arrive 10 minutes early!



ArpaiaBrewIn addition to hosting one of the beer stops, during the event Arpaia Lang will be serving homemade cookies and offer 20% off regular price in-stock merchandise (excluding Featured Artist Selections and Store Special Promotions).  This should be a really fun night! The shop is located at 806 Chapel Street.



Olde School

Olde School Saloon & Bistro at 418 State St., gets an early #BrewOn9 start offering $2 Pints of Local Stratford Brewerey- Two Roads IPA  from 3 to 6 pm.  The IPA will also be the featured beer on the crawl.

Afterwards, the Travis Moody Band begins to play at 9PM.







Yolande’s Bistro & Creperie, 99 Orange St, features Bouillabaisse, the traditional Provencal fish stew, as part of her 1st Friday Regional Cooking special entree.




Project Storefronts, 756 Chapel Street, continues The Metamorphosis Project during #BrewOn9. The project starts off with small colorful paper butterfly shapes.

A message of hope, a dream, or a wish is written on each butterfly and then glued to a backing that will be hung or mounted in various spaces and places throughout the Project Storefronts 2013 planned programming.




Cafe Nine, 250 St., features FRIDAY HAPPY HOUR • from 5PM-7PM. Featuring Shellye Valauskas and Dean Falcone, no cover.





cupcakesArtspace, 50 Orange St., is hosting a group of students from Gateway Community College who will be setting up pop-up shops in the front gallery from 4:00PM–8:00PM as part of their entrepreneurship class (taught by Mike Roer). There will be a number of different concepts, including a cupcake shop.




P copyRobert Greenberg, artist and New Haven historian, creates a series of signed and numbered limited edition framable prints of New Haven’s brewing and tobacco history. Each are printed on high quality professional Epson paper. The subject matter ranges from old beer company letterhead,  invoices, advertisements, matchbooks, and cigar box labels. These artifacts are from Greenberg’s personal collection, which is housed at the family business, ACME Furniture Company, 33 Crown Street. Sale of prints will occur during #BrewOn9 at Acme, weather permitting, and Neville’s Fashion Design Studio, 63 Orange St.



brokenA Broken Umbrella Theatre hosts an Open House Party at 300 State Street featuring the music of Chrissy Gardner, refreshments and a sneak peek at the restoration of the  performance venue in the 9th Square. Stop by between 7PM and 9PM on May 3.

C__firehouse12_web_web_Temp_Craig Taborn Trio_fsFirehouse 12, 45 Crown St.,  is pleased to welcome pianist Craig Taborn in his first performance as a leader at Firehouse 12. His trio featuring bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Gerald Cleaver will be celebrating the release the their new album Chants (ECM Records) which was recorded in July 2012. The album is the culmination of 8 years of work as Taborn writing for and performing with this group during that time but never recorded. has an 8:30 & 10PM show. Purchase tickets on website.
